- Larry Nance Jr. momentarily stole the spotlight on "Kobe Bryant Night" during Monday night's game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors.
- Nance posterized Kevin Durant with a strong candidate for Dunk of the Year.
- The Warriors were still able to pull out the win in overtime, 116-114.
The Los Angeles Lakers retired both of Kobe Bryant's numbers on Monday night during halftime of the team's matchup against the Golden State Warriors.
But while the night was nominally dedicated to Bryant, chances are the name most people were talking about as they left the Staples Center on Monday night was Larry Nance Jr.. The third-year forward absolutely demolished Kevin Durant with what will without a doubt be considered one of the best dunks of the year.
In the closing seconds of the second quarter, Nance collected a loose ball and passed it off to Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. The two ran the floor together and when Caldwell-Pope was met by Andre Iguodala, he dumped the ball back to Nance in stride, who then burst off the court and dunked all over Kevin Durant. The move sent the Lakers bench and the home crowd into hysterics.
You can watch the mayhem play out below.
The dunk wasn't enough to carry the Lakers to victory, and the Warriors ended up taking the hard fought game in overtime, 116-114. Kevin Durant also got some personal revenge, leading all scorers with 36 points.
