Renault-Nissan is at number three in Indian domestic sales in July, all thanks to its single model Kwid.

Renault-Nissan sold 18,386 units, leaving Mahindra & Mahindra behind, which sold 16,337 units of passenger vehicles, excluding Supro LCV.

"Renault-Nissan market share was primarily driven by single model Kwid, which contributed about two-thirds of its July volume as compared to relatively diversified portfolio mix of M&M. Nevertheless, given healthy demand and long waiting period, Kwid's volumes are expected to remain strong in the near term," said Subrata Ray, senior group vice president of ICRA.

Renault sold 9,897 units of Kwid in July against 9,459 units in June, whereas Nissan Motor Corporation reported domestic sales of 6,418 vehicles in July 2016 versus 2,841 units in July 2015.

Even Nissan's Redi-Go did well, selling 3,940 units in July compared to 2,925 in the previous month.

Meanwhile, Honda Cars India was at the fourth spot as it sold 14,025 in July against 13,586 units sold by Tata Motors.

"We have started reducing excessive stock of diesel cars and also aligned production to the current demand pattern that is why we have improved," said Jnaneswar, senior vice-president of sales and marketing at HCIL.
