Know how the stocks performed after traders went long on blue chips

Major benchmarks were able to mostly sustain the gap up opening on Friday as traders went long on blue chips after strong earnings from some companies. Energy, Banking and Pharma stocks are in demand in afternoon trade in the cash market. Here is a snapshot of the latest in stocks with a special emphasis on Nifty companies.


MAJOR BENCHMARKS
CNX Nifty added 0.5% to 8,296 points
Sensex gained 185 points to 27,475 points.

WIDER INDICES
CNX 100 Index rose 0.4% to 8,390 points

SECTORAL INDICES
Bank Nifty rose 1% to 17,891 points
CNX Energy up 0.9% to 8,301 points
CNX PSU Bank added 0.9% to 3,229 points
CNX Pharma rose 0.6% to 13,270 points
