Kim Jong Un poses for what appears to be his first-ever public selfie
- North Korean leader Kim Jong-un appeared in his first public selfie.
- Singapore's foreign minister, Vivian Balakrishnan, took the photo and posted it to his Twitter account Monday morning.
- Balakrishnan is helping facilitate the summit, including taking Kim on a tour of Singapore's big attractions.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has arrived in Singapore for Tuesday's summit with US President Donald Trump. As the leaders geared up for the summit Monday night, Kim visited popular tourist attractions and posed for what is believed to be his first public selfie.
Singaporean foreign minister Vivian Balakrishnan, on the left, posted a selfie with Kim and an unidentified third person who appears to be Singaporean official.
While there are many official photographs of the North Korean leader, this appears to be the first time he has posed for a casual selfie.
Balakrishnan is playing an active role in the summit as host. Earlier on Monday, he was part of a Singaporean delegation that hosted Trump and the American delegation for a working lunch at the Istana hotel. Trump and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong also had a one-on-one meeting on Monday morning.
Last week, Balakrishnan visited North Korea at the invitation of foreign minister Ri Hong Yo. He said the visit went well and described the capital city of Pyongyang as "clean, modern, and beautiful with clear evidence of ongoing construction around the city. There are many high-rise buildings and modern designs."
