Kevin Durant roasted C.J. McCollum on his own podcast after he claimed the Blazers could win the NBA championship
- Kevin Durant and C.J. McCollum discussed the Golden State Warriors signing DeMarcus Cousins on McCollum's podcast.
- When McCollum complained about the Warriors signing Cousins, Durant laughed at McCollum, saying the Blazers had no chance at winning the championship, anyway.
- Durant continued to tease McCollum, saying he should not worry about what the best teams in the league are doing.
Reigning NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant made an appearance on fellow Portland Trail Blazers' guard C.J. McCollum's podcast, when McCollum voiced his frustrations with the Golden State Warriors adding to their treasure trove of talent by signing DeMarcus Cousins this summer.
Durant replied, with a laugh, "I mean, you guys know you aren't gonna win a championship."
The Blazers finished third in the Western Conference last year, with a 49-33 record. They were swept in the first round of the playoffs by the New Orleans Pelicans.
McCollum, playing the part of consummate professional, insisted that "anything is possible," although it is hard to tell how serious he was.
McCollum then said he felt that Cousins could have gone to Portland to play with him and Damian Lillard, leading Durant to call out McCollum for the incidental shot at Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic. McCollum said the Blazers could have played well with both big men.
McCollum was one of several players who voiced displeasure at the Warriors signing Cousins, arguably the best center in the NBA. Of course, it was later revealed that Cousins had almost no offers as he returns from a torn Achilles, and it's a gamble that made sense for both sides.
Nonetheless, McCollum said he texted Cousins when Cousins made his decision to ask why he was joining the two-time reigning champions.
"Get out your feelings, yo," Durant said, still laughing.
Durant later clarified that his comments were fun payback for shots McCollum and Lillard have taken at the Warriors since Durant joined the team.
"I suggest you just keep playing, man, and don't worry about what's going on at the top of things," Durant said.
