Business Insider compiled surveys from five reputed sources — Republic-C Voter, NDTV - Hansa, Today's Chanakya, India Today-Axis, and TimesNow - VMR — amongst many others and the final number is an average of these five polls.

Kerala came into existence as an independent state by bringing together the Malayalam speaking regions following the States Reorganization Act in 1956. The total area of Kerala is 38,863 kilometers. Sharing its borders with the states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Kerala state has a total number of 2,54,58,095 voters. Among them, the males number 1,23,45,027 and the females number 1,31,12,949 besides 119 third gender electors.

In 2014 general elections conducted for the Parliament, Kerala elected the Congress party in 8 seats, CPM from 5 places, IUML from 2 constituencies and other candidates from the remaining 5 seats. In 2009 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress won from 13 seats, CPM got 4 seats, MUL secured 2 constituencies and others got 1 seat. In 2004 general elections, CPM got 12 seats, CPI won from 3 seats, MUL got 1 constituency and the other candidates won from 4 constituencies.

The state of Kerala has 20 Lok Sabha seats in total to give the parliament. Among them, 2 are reserved for scheduled castes. From Kerala, 9 members are sent to the Rajya Sabha. The total number of assembly constituencies in the state are 141 and the state saw its latest assembly elections in May 2016. Polling for the Lok Sabha elections 2019 was conducted in Kerala in a single phase with the electors voting on April 23 during the third phase of elections in the country.
