  • White House counselor Kellyanne Conway accidentally referred to President Donald Trump as the "Commander of Cheese" in an interview with CNN on Wednesday morning.
  • In the interview, Conway said former press aide Kelly Sadler - who reportedly mocked Sen. John McCain's cancer - would be welcome to work in other positions in the Trump administration.

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway accidentally referred to President Donald Trump as the "Commander of Cheese" in an interview with CNN on Wednesday morning.

When pressed by CNN anchor John Berman about Trump rescinding an invitation to the Philadelphia Eagles to visit the White House on Tuesday, Conway appeared to slip up and said, "The problem with the President of the United States, and the commander of cheese - chief - expressing that opinion is what?"

In the interview, Conway also said that former press aide Kelly Sadler, who left the White House after allegedly mocking Sen. John McCain for having cancer, would still be welcome to work a different job in the Trump administration.

Conway would not say whether Sadler's departure was related to her comments about McCain.

"Kelly Sadler has been told that there are administration jobs that fit with her skill set and her experiences and that the rest is really her choice," Conway said.

Grace Panetta contributed to this report.
