Kanye West Slams Fake Interview That Quoted Him As Saying 'I Am The Next Nelson Mandela'

Dec 9, 2013, 23:17 IST

Kanye West may not be afraid to share his high opinion of himself, but the rapper wants you to know he did not say that "I am the next Nelson Mandela" quote currently circulating after being pulled from a fake interview.

On Friday, satirical newspaper "The Daily Currant" ran a fake interview with Kanye West in which he said ridiculous statements such as: "Mandela was working in South Africa, which has, like what, six people? I started my magic here in the USA and then I took my business global" and "I liberate minds with my music. That's more important than liberating a few people from apartheid or whatever."

Many people believed the interview was real and some even called to put Kanye in prison "to make sure" he's the next Mandela.

After Twitter went nuts with people in outrage over the statements, West just cleared up the matter via his Twitter account:

But for those keeping track, West did, in fact, say he is the next Steve Jobs, Walt Disney and God.
