Julio Jones was seen with Terrell Owens while holding out for a new contract, and the Falcons are reportedly 'uneasy' about their relationship
- Superstar wide receiver Julio Jones was absent from the Atlanta Falcons' offseason training program, choosing instead to work out with Hall of Fame receiver Terrell Owens.
- The Falcons are reportedly concerned over the budding relationship between their star player and Owens.
- Jones has recently other receivers sign deals that outpay his contract, and is likely looking for a raise that will once again make him one of the highest-paid players in the league.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones has been absent from his team's offseason training sessions, and the team is reportedly "uneasy" about how their marquee All-Star is spending his free time.
Jones has been seen hanging out with Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens, with the duo spending time together at WNBA games and Jones timing Owens on a recent impressive 40-yard dash.
While veterans skipping team workouts during the offseason in favor of working out on their own isn't anything new, the Falcons reportedly aren't too pleased with Jones' choice of company.
D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution spoke with ESPN Radio about the team's concerns over the budding relationship.
"The fact that he's running around with Terrell Owens has the front office uneasy," Ledbetter said, adding that the relationship between Jones and the team was "in a bad place right now."
"The coach was expecting him in here," Ledbetter said. "Then a few weeks later Julio informed them he's not going to be here."
The Falcons concerns might be due to the fact that Owens was notoriously contentious with teams about getting paid his due. Jones, by any measure one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, has seen players like Davante Adams, Sammy Watkins, and Jarvis Landry sign contracts worth more per-year than his current deal.
If there is a divide widening between the Falcons and Jones, chances are a raise could help smooth things over.
