Jeremy Corbyn to call no confidence vote in Theresa May
- Theresa May faces a possible no-confidence vote this week launched by the opposition Labour party.
- Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is poised to call a parliamentary vote of no confidence in May as prime minister.
- The vote comes after May survived another no-confidence vote by Conservative MPs.
LONDON - Theresa May faces a vote of no confidence in her leadership from parliament, after Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said he would call a vote urging her to stand down as Prime Minister.
A spokesperson for Corbyn said he will call a vote of no confidence in May on Monday if she refuses to set out a date for the parliamentary vote on her Brexit deal.
The no confidence motion will be targeted at May personally, rather than her government, in an attempt to win over Conservative critics of the prime minister.
May last week survived a no-confidence vote launched by Conservative MPs, with 117 voting for her to stand down as opposed to 204 saying she should stay.
The opposition no-confidence motion will be non-binding but will add to growing pressure on May to stand down.
