Jarring Image Of A Child Amid Syria's Air War

This is a striking photo by Ammar Abdullah of Reuters showing a little Syrian girl being taken from the site of a government airstrike:

Unfortunately scene like this have been all too common since July 2012, when the regime of Bashar al Assad began bombing rebel-held areas across the country. The attacks have targeted bakeries, markets, hospitals, and schools in an attempt to disrupt civilian life under rebel rule.

Here's a recent video showing children being bombed while describing being bombed to a reporter:

More than 11,000 children have died in the 33-month civil war. More than 1 million Syrian children are refugees in neighboring countries while more than 4 million children inside the country are affected.

The air campaign has decimated the country's largest cities, especially Aleppo and Homs. Here is a photo from the Duma suburb outside the capital of Damascus:
