  • Jared Kushner had another meeting with special counsel Robert Mueller in November to discuss former national security adviser Michael Flynn, CNN reported on Tuesday night.
  • According to the network's sources, one of Mueller's objectives was to determine if Kushner had information that could exonerate Flynn.
  • Mueller has been turning up the heat on Flynn lately, amid rumors that the special counsel and Flynn's lawyers may be nearing a plea deal in the Russia investigation.

President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner reportedly sat down with special counsel Robert Mueller earlier this month to discuss additional matters related to the Russia investigation, CNN reported on Tuesday night.

Citing two unnamed people familiar with the meeting, CNN said one of the topics included former national security adviser Michael Flynn. Mueller wanted to ensure that Kushner "doesn't have information that exonerates Flynn," according to one source cited by the news network.

Both Kushner and Flynn have increasingly drawn the attention of Mueller and his investigative team in a wide-ranging inquiry into Russia's meddling in the 2016 US election and the Trump campaign's possible collusion with the Kremlin.

Flynn's lawyers stopped sharing information with attorneys representing Trump in the Russia investigation, signaling that Flynn's defense team may be moving toward a plea deal with the special counsel.

Kushner is facing closer scrutiny himself, concerning his alleged role in the firing of FBI Director James Comey and his contacts with a since-retired Russian ambassador and a Russian banker. Kushner has previously denied any wrongdoing
