Japanese automaker Isuzu Motors may not have a big pie in the Indian auto market, but it’s looking to change all that. The company its new manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andra Pradesh, on Wednesday, April 27. It will be rolling out its new D-Max V-Cross pick-up it showcased at the Auto Expo this February from this new plant.

The 107 acres manufacturing facility cost some Rs. 3,000 Crores, and will employ around 3,000 people. It’s production capacity is said to be 50,000 units, which can be bumped up to 1,20,000 units.

Now Isuzu entered India way back in 2012 with its MU-7 SUV and D-Max pick-up trucks. Till now both these were assembled at Hindustan Motors' Thiruvallur plant in Chennai. While that plant will remain assembling models, the new would be dedicated to manufacturing.

In case you didn’t know, here’s how the D-Max V-Cross looks. It has similarities to Chevrolet's Trailblazer. Currently available in Europe, Australia, Thailand and South America, the D-Max V-Cross is expected to launch in India in the second half of 2016.

Under the hood its powered by a 2.5-litre CRDi diesel engine that produces 134 BHP and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission that delivers 320 Nm of torque.
