HeismanPundit.com is a website that runs an annual straw poll of Heisman voters and has correctly projected the top four finishers in the Heisman voting each of the last four years. In its latest straw poll, Winston received seven of ten first-place votes, easily finishing ahead of Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch, who received the other three first-place votes.
More importantly for Winston, only one voter left him off the ballot completely. This suggests that few voters will be influenced by the recent sexual assault allegations.
StiffArmTrophy.com is another website that projects the Heisman Trophy winner and has correctly picked every winner since 2002. StiffArmTrophy tracks votes that have been announced publicly. Of the 33 ballots made public so far, 19 voters gave their first-place vote to Winston. Boston College running back Andre Williams is second with just three first-place votes.
In this case, it is difficult to determine how many voters are leaving Winston off their ballots as the voters may not reveal their entire ballot.
The Heisman vote consists of 870 media members, 57 former Heisman winners, and one public vote.
In the end, the picture is clear. Jameis Winston is going to win the 2013 Heisman Trophy.
