Even though the current iteration of the XJ has been around for nearly a decade, its head-turning looks remain as fresh as the first time we saw it in 2009.
(Jaguar design director Ian Callum has confirmed to Business Insider that a new XJ is in the works.)
On Monday, Jaguar upped the ante with the fastest and most powerful version of the sedan to date, the XJR575.
The 2018 XJR575 has, you guessed it, 575 horsepower from Jag's trusty 5.0 liter, supercharged V8. That's up 25 horses from the "standard" high-performance XJR.
According to Jaguar, the XJR575 can hit 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 186 mph in just 44 seconds. This represents a solid improvement over the 4.4-second 0-60 mph time and the 174-mph top speed of the XJR.

Tech features include a 10-inch touch screen running Jaguar's Touch Pro Infotainment system, 4G wi-fi connectivity, and a host of intelligent driver assistance systems.
"This is a performance vehicle, but that doesn't mean we have had to cut any corners when it comes to comfort or design," Callum said in a statement. "Jaguar is the standard bearer for interior refinement and the XJR575 is no different. It can go very quickly, but it does so with the serene comfort customers expect from a Jaguar sedan. That makes this a very special car indeed."
