- The UK government went on to be heavily defeated on the first vote of Johnson's premiership.
Jacob Rees-Mogg has been accused of showing "arrogance, entitlement, disrespect and contempt" for Parliament after he appeared to snooze during a crucial Brexit debate in the House of Commons.
Rees-Mogg who was appointed Leader of the House by Boris Johnson, reclined on the government front bench in the House of Commons during the debate on plans to delay Brexit.
Images of Rees-Mogg, whose job is to represent the government's plans in the House of Commons, rapidly spread on social media with Labour MP Anna Turley accusing him of being "the physical embodiment of arrogance, entitlement, disrespect and contempt for our parliament."
Johnson's government was later defeated after 21 Conservative MPs joined with the opposition to back a motion paving the way for legislation that could force Johnson to seek a three month delay to Britain's currently planned exit date fromt the EU of October 31.
