The global launch event for the OnePlus 5T was rather interesting, it was almost like the company found its calling – premium flagship phones ONLY. It is the sixth flagship phone from the Chinese smartphone marker and it’s sold out in just five minutes during the sale for Amazon Prime members on November 21st. Even though the new device sold out in a blink of an eye, it was an expected response as the OnePlus 5 has been ranked one of the best Android phones out there and the OnePlus 5T is nothing but a better version of the OnePlus 5.

The new OnePlus 5T comes with a 6-inch Full Optic AMOLED Display with 18:9 aspect ratio for immersive viewing experience. The immersive viewing experience has led to moving the finger print sensor on the back for the first time for OnePlus devices. The new phone also comes with facial recognition, it may not be like the infrared face ID on the iPhone X but it's the first OnePlus device to have this feature. In terms of the camera, the 5T version will apparently produce better portraits and low light images as it has one camera specially tuned for low light photography.

More importantly the response to the OnePlus 5T is also steller as there is hardly any difference in the pricing between the two variants of the 5, something that is not as pleasing to hear for the OnePlus 5 buyers. The OnePlus 5T is available at a starting price of Rs 32,999. It also means that the company has killed the OnePlus 5 on its own. The company will now either have to lower the price or discontinue the device. The OnePlus 5T will go live for open sale, starting Nov 28th across all channels which includes Amazon.in, company’s website and their experience zones in Bangalore and Delhi

OnePlus also talked about how they will now only look at flagship phones as the non-flagship phones such as the OnePlus X was not able to find any takers despite being a good phone.
