After Bobby Jindal's epic meltdown in Politico last month, I felt compelled to ask Reihan Salam: Is Jindal still smart?

The answer seems to be: yes, though he's pretending not to be.

There are other signs of sentient life in the Republican Party; Salam and I discussed where they emanate from.
