Iran is accusing Saudi Arabia of bombing its embassy in Yemen
Iran has accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out an air strike on its embassy in Yemen, state media is reporting.
"Saudi Arabia bears responsibility for damaging the embassy and injuring its staff," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossein Jaber Ansari said as quoted by state TV channel IRIB.
He added: "He added: "This deliberate attempt by the Saudi government is in violation of all the conventions and regulation of international law on the protection and the security of diplomatic premises in all situations, and the responsibility for the action, as well as compensation for damage done to the building and injuries to the embassy staff lies with the government of Saudi Arabia."
There were dozens of air strikes on the city of Sanaa on Thursday morning, according to the BBC.
Earlier on Thursday AP reported that Saudi Arabia had shot down a missile fired into its territory from Yemen, which is engulfed in violent and destructive civil war.
The Saudi military says it intercepted the missile Thursday morning in Jizan province and later attacked and destroyed the platform that launched the missile.
The statement was carried by the state-run Saudi Press Agency.
Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies in the Gulf, backing Yemen's internationally recognised government, have been fighting Shiite rebels in the country known as Houthis.
The Houthis are backed by Iran in what is seen by many as a proxy conflict between Tehran and Riyadh.
