The metaverse is more than just a bunch of virtual spaces connected to each other. While the concept will take a couple of years to truly come into its own, what’s clear is that the metaverse will be full of digital commerce, real-estate and more. Which is why brands like Nike, McDonalds and even Louis Vuitton are jumping onto the non-fungible token (NFT) bandwagon.

While NFTs have been all the rage in 2021, the technology isn’t just about buying art and digital avatars. It actually helps signify the ownership of digital items. And, these digital items have certain utility – like getting access to membership-only items or concerts.

For brands, it’s a new way to reach out to customers and catch the attention of the younger generation – most investors are below the age of 50.
