The responses from over 28,000 respondents pointed to two main reasons for this bullish sentiment.

Investors are betting on emerging markets being drawn to blockchain technology with the promise of an alternative digital-first payments network. And in developed countries, investors are hoping that policy makers may adopt crypto assets as a viable alternative to fiat money.

The pace at which crypto assets will become mainstream is directly correlated to crypto adoption. And, the main driver of adoption — crypto and otherwise — is trust.

The current policy climate paints a very uncertain picture with some countries, like India, imposing high tax rates on crypto investors, while others like El Salvador have accepted Bitcoin as legal tender. China’s already banned crypto assets and the US, while sending out positive policy signals, is yet to make a final decision.

As things stand, investing in the stock market or property ownership is still considered to be a more trustworthy investment than putting money into crypto. However, institutional investors believe that the narrative will flip within the next decade with crypto assets emerging as the most popular investment option.

Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest estimates that Bitcoin’s price could cross $1 million by 2030 with Ethereum’s market capitalisation surpassing $20 trillion.
