When a Florida man peeked into his toilet bowl on Friday, he found the stuff of most children's nightmares: Glaring up at him was a spotted iguana, snarling menacingly.

The man, John Riddle from Hollywood, Florida, told 7News that he found the reptile splashing around in the murky water of his pool bathroom toilet. It had black, white, and brown scales, sharp claws, and a long tail.

"I thought I was in 'Jurassic Park' or something," Riddle, 58, told 7News.

He went nearer to take a closer look, and that's when the iguana turned around and snarled at him, revealing its fangs.

"That's when it turned around and opened its mouth, and that's all I needed to see to like, back off," Riddle said.

Riddle told 7News that the iguana ended up burrowing deeper into the toilet water and stayed there for close to an hour.

Riddle later managed to shoo it out towards the pool with a strainer — at which point the iguana decided to take a quick dip in the water, per 7News. It then ran out into the bushes in Riddle's backyard and disappeared.

Riddle said that he believes the iguana got into his house when he left his door open while walking his dogs.

He said the reptile was not hurt during their brief but terrifying encounter, but that he hopes to never see it again.
