  • Pubs in England were allowed to reopen after midnight Monday after four months of closure.
  • They can serve only outside and to a maximum of six people per group.
  • But that didn't stop people from going in the cold just after midnight and early Monday morning.

Pubs reopened Monday in England after being closed for four months because of coronavirus restrictions.

Clothing stores, salons, and gyms were also allowed to reopen Monday.

Some people even lined up so they could sit at tables outside a pub just after midnight:

The BBC showed one pub using a gong to mark the reopening as people drank outside on Monday morning:

Photos also show people drinking their first pub beers in months:

For now, pubs can serve only outdoors and to a maximum of six people per group.

The people went for their pints on Monday despite the cold, with the Met Office predicting temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees Celsius, or 48 to 52 degrees Fahrenheit, across England for the start of the week. Some parts of southern England also experienced snow and sleet on Monday morning.
