Video captures mushroom cloud towering over a town near Moscow after a massive explosion rocked a Russian factory

A colossal explosion erupted at a warehouse about an hour outside of the Russian capital of Moscow on Wednesday, leaving dozens of people injured, according to reports.
Dramatic videos that circulated on social media captured the moments immediately after the blast at the Zagorsk Optical-Mechanical Plant in Sergiev Posad and showed a massive mushroom cloud looming over the area.
According to The Moscow Times, the factory has produced things like night-vision devices and binoculars for the Russian security forces.
At least 56 people were injured — six of them severely — as a result of the incident, officials said, The Moscow Times reported. Russian state media outlet TASS reported that at least one person has died.
Andrei Vorobyov, the governor of the Moscow region, said that a private pyrotechnics company identified by state media as Piro Ross had been using a warehouse on plant grounds to store fireworks and that the facility where the explosion occurred "has had nothing to do with optics or mechanics for a long time," according to the Associated Press.
Piro Ross has reportedly denied any involvement, arguing that the explosion's epicenter was the metal pipe storage facility next door.
The cause of the explosion is not clear.
Russia's Investigative Committee said it launched a criminal inquiry involving the "violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities."
The explosion at the military optics plant in the city of Sergiev Posad caused windows to be blown out of surrounding buildings and prompted an evacuation in the area as rescue workers descended on the area.
Industrial accidents at Russian facilities are not uncommon. And in military spaces, there have been a number of fires and ammunition dump explosions.
