The US Military on Wednesday released never-before-seen combat drone footage of a mysterious object that appears to be a silver orb.

But at a Congressional hearing on Wednesday to discuss potential threats from UFOs — or as the Pentagon calls them, Unexplained Anomalous Phenomena, or UAPs — in US airspace, the head of the Pentagon office that reviews such incidents reported by the military said there is no evidence of aliens.

"I want to underscore today that only a very small percentage of UAP reports display signatures that could reasonably be described as 'anomalous,'" Sean Kirkpatrick, the director of the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, told Congress Wednesday. "The majority of unidentified objects reported to AARO demonstrate mundane characteristics of balloons, unmanned aerial systems, clutter, natural phenomena, or other readily explainable sources."

The video released by the military shows a silver orb flying across the screen of a sensor located at a Middle Eastern military base. It was taken on July 12, 2022, according to the video.

A second video was also released Wednesday at the rare open congressional hearing, showing an incident in South Asia in January of this year.

Kirkpatrick told Congress his office is reviewing more than 650 of these incidents reported by US military personnel but none have proven any evidence of extraterrestrial activity thus far, ABC News reported.

Correction: April 20, 2023An earlier version of this story's headline incorrectly identified who discussed the mysterious object. It was the Pentagon who said it was not aliens.
