What happened today:

• Steve Bannon could face charges. The bipartisan committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot hopes to pursue criminal contempt charges against former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, who defied its subpoena to sit for a deposition. The investigation is also a backdrop for a legal showdown between Trump and Biden over executive privilege.
• FDA panel backs Moderna boosters. A panel of independent experts convened by the FDA supported offering an extra dose of the Moderna shot to adults 65 years and older, as well as younger adults who are at high risk of severe COVID-19. The recommendation, backed by a 19-0 vote by the committee, clears the way for the FDA to authorize a booster of Moderna's vaccine for more people.
• Bill Cosby served with another lawsuit. A woman who alleges Bill Cosby sexually assaulted her multiple times, including drugging and raping her on a trip to Atlantic City in 1990, filed a federal lawsuit Thursday. She is among dozens of women who've accused Cosby of sexual misconduct over the years. Cosby was released from prison in June when another conviction was vacated.
• LinkedIn is shuttering in China. LinkedIn will close its local version in China this year after coming under fire for censoring accounts that shared content considered offensive to China's government. "While we've found success in helping Chinese members find jobs and economic opportunity, we have not found that same level of success in the more social aspects of sharing and staying informed," said Microsoft, which owns the platform.
• Wendy Williams takes a break. Wendy Williams will not return to her show next week as she is dealing with "serious" health complications. She's "experiencing serious complications as a direct result of Graves' Disease and her thyroid condition," according to the show's Instagram.
