What's going on today:
- A book report for a better sentence. A woman who pleaded guilty to involvement in the Jan. 6 insurrection told a judge she watched the Holocaust film "Schindler's List" to "educate herself." Anna Morgan Lloyd, 49, from Indiana, pleaded guilty to a picketing charge at the Jan 6 riot. She submitted movie and book reviews as a part of her defense.
- Certainly a unique career path. Boxer, attorney, and former reality TV star Joey Gilbert was at the Capitol on Jan 6. He's now campaigning to be governor of Nevada. Joey Gilbert was seen on video at the insurrection scaling the steps to the Capitol and calling out to conspiracy theorist Alex Jones to join him.
- Naming names. Here are the 14 House Republicans who voted against making Juneteenth a federal holiday. The bill was previously passed in the Senate and President Joe Biden is expected to sign the bill into law in the coming days.
- Thai tourism troubles. There's a loophole in the Phuket reopening plan that lets international visitors enter Thailand without quarantining - but not Thai citizens. Phuket Sandbox, which is just 13 days away from its slated launch, presents very different realities for international travelers and Thai citizens.
- Losing lawyers, Housewives edition. Erika Jayne is dropped by her attorneys the day after the documentary "The Housewife and the Hustler" about her and Tom Girardi's legal drama is released. Erika Jayne's attorneys said their "relationship of trust and confidence" with "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star was irreparably damaged.
- Welcome to the spider-pocalypse. A town in Australia woke up covered in spiderwebs, and people can't decide if it's creepy or beautiful. Millions of spiders in eastern Victoria wrapped their silks together to get to higher ground, blanketing the region of Gippsland in giant webs.
That's all for now. See you tomorrow.
