What's going on today:
- Matt Gaetz wants Britney - in front of Congress. Following the court decision to leave her conservatorship in place, Matt Gaetz asked Britney Spears to speak to Congress about how she's been 'mistreated by America's legal system." Gaetz - who is currently embroiled in a sex trafficking investigation - wrote to the singer and asked her to speak in Congress to "take advantage of the empowerment that public congressional testimony can unlock."
- "We can't have that on our streets." Caitlyn Jenner wants to move the homeless to 'big open fields' because they are "destroying Venice Beach." In the same interview, Jenner also said she would impose tougher immigration controls by building a wall on state land.
- Facebook wants you to check on your friends. Facebook is trying to rout out extremism by asking users if they've been exposed to extremist content from their friends. Users are getting prompts and warnings that they may have been exposed to extremist content. Facebook says this is part of its efforts to combat extremism online.
- Dolezal defends a person who "transitioned" races. Rachel Dolezal, a white woman who gained notoriety for claiming she identifies as Black, defends a TikTok star who says they "transitioned" races. Dolezal argued that cultural appropriation differs from "being authentically yourself" while speaking up for London, a British-born influencer.
- Charged with a hate crime. The California woman who wrongfully accused a Black teenager of theft and tackled him to the ground has been charged with a hate crime. Miya Ponsetto, 22, has already been charged with attempted robbery, grand larceny, and attempted assault, stemming from the December 2020 incident.
