Singapore, Jun 12 () Singapore on Friday confirmed 463 new COVID-19 cases, including 18 cases in the community, taking the country's total count to 39,850.
Of the cases in the community, eight are Singapore citizens or permanent residents (foreigners) and 10 are foreigners on work passes, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) in its daily preliminary release.
The remaining new cases are foreigners on work permits and living in dormitories.
The MOH on Thursday said a 44-year-old male Indian national has passed away on Monday due to coronary heart disease.
He had developed chest and epigastric pain on May 28 and had sought medical treatment at a general practitioner clinic. He was found unconscious at his place of residence on June 8 and conveyed to Singapore General Hospital's emergency department.
He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on June 10 after his demise.
The man is the eighth person who had COVID-19 and died but was not added to the official toll because the death was not caused by the coronavirus.
In all, seven deaths have been attributed to heart- or blood-related issues. The eighth, a migrant worker (also an Indian national) with COVID-19, died from multiple injuries after he was found at a staircase landing in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital last month.
Of the 227 confirmed cases hospitalised, two are in critical condition in the intensive care unit while 11,849 are isolated and cared for at community facilities for mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
