- Shani Louk's grandmother begged German authorities to save her granddaughter.
- Nicole Louk said her granddaughter has a "serious head injury," per French media.
In a desperate plea for help, Nicole Louk asked German authorities to take her to her granddaughter. "If you need me, if I can get to her, please do everything you can," she told French broadcaster LCI.
"I want to be by her side," she added, before breaking into tears.
A video circulated on social media on October 7 appeared to show Shani Louk, a German tattoo artist, on the back of a pickup truck being driven by Hamas militants after an attack on the Tribe of Nova music festival in Israel.
The festival was going on when Hamas launched its surprise raids into southern Israel on October 7. More than 260 festival-goers were killed, according to reports.
Nicole Louk said her granddaughter has a "serious" head injury after she was "cruelly" taken hostage by Hamas.
"She has been cruelly kidnapped by Hamas in Gaza," she told the French broadcaster, adding: "She is still alive and badly wounded in the head."
Louk continued by saying she didn't understand "why the German government isn't going to Gaza to save my sweet granddaughter and get her the urgent care she needs."
Germany's Foreign Ministry did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
Shani Louk's mother, Ricarda Louk, made similar statements to German outlet Bild on Tuesday.
She cited Palestinian sources who told her that her daughter was still alive at a hospital in Gaza.
"We now have reasons to believe that Shani is alive but has had a severe head injury and is in critical condition. Every minute is critical," Ricarda Louk told Bild.
"Peace activists have told us that Shani will now only get help if the German authorities officially intervene," she said, per the outlet.
Ricarda Louk told Bild that the last time she spoke to Shani, she was at the music festival.
She told her 22-year-old daughter to seek refuge at a local shelter. She heard gunfire ring out on the other end of the phone, per the outlet.
Ricarda Louk said her daughter wanted to flee the massacre with her boyfriend and others, but lost contact when the group took cover in bushes.
Shani Louk and her partner are still missing.
Neither Israeli, German, nor Palestinian officials have confirmed Shani Louk's whereabouts, or whether she is still alive.
