Pakistan hit back at India's response after it accidentally fired a supersonic cruise missile across the border, saying it doesn't consider the matter resolved.

India on Tuesday that it had fired three air force officers for accidentally firing the supersonic missile into Pakistan in March.

Pakistan on Wednesday said it wasn't satisfied, saying the case should not be considered closed and that it wants a joint investigation.

"Pakistan categorically rejects India's purported closure of the highly irresponsible incident and reiterates its demand for a joint probe," a statement from Pakistan's foreign office said.

India did not explicitly say that it did considered the matter resolved, but did not announce any further steps.

The Indian Air Force had said on Tuesday: "A court of inquiry, set up to establish the facts of the case, including fixing responsibility for the incident, found that deviation from the standard operating procedures by three officers led to the accidental firing of the missile."

No one was killed or injured in the incident.

The neighboring countries, both of which have nuclear weapons, have long been in conflict over their borders. Experts have repeatedly warned that the tension could lead to accidents and miscalculations, Reuters reported.
