An off-duty state trooper returning from a Halloween party in a 'Star Wars' Stormtrooper costume stopped a drunk-driving suspect going the wrong way, police say

  • The trooper, Britta Foesch, spotted the car trying to enter a freeway in the wrong direction, the highway patrol said.
  • The highway patrol said the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving without a valid driver's license, and committing two traffic violations, The Associated Press reported.
  • Foesch "no doubt intervened and stopped a potentially deadly situation," the Nevada Highway Patrol's Southern Command said in a video posted on Twitter. "The FORCE is strong in Trooper Foesch."

An off-duty state trooper dressed as a Stormtrooper from "Star Wars" was returning from a Halloween party on Saturday when she stopped a person suspected of driving drunk, the Nevada Highway Patrol said, according to The Associated Press.

The highway patrol said the trooper, Britta Foesch, who was not wearing her helmet as she was driving, spotted the car as it tried to enter a freeway in the wrong direction.

In a cinematic video statement posted on Twitter, the Nevada Highway Patrol's Southern Command said Foesch stopped the car and called dispatch to deal with the situation.

Foesch "no doubt intervened and stopped a potentially deadly situation," the statement said. "The FORCE is strong in Trooper Foesch."

The highway patrol said the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving without a valid driver's license, and committing two traffic violations, the AP reported.
