For the past 10 years, Jordan Brand has released an Air Jordan 11 in December, and awaiting its arrival has become a holiday tradition of sorts for sneaker collectors and basketball fans alike. This year, Jordan is ending the decade on a high note by releasing the silhouette in its most iconic form - the Black/True Red/White colorway.
The Air Jordan 11 is a popular shoe in any colorway, but the black and red pair (commonly referred to as "Playoffs" or "Breds") is especially significant because of Michael Jordan's legendary on-court performance in them.
The year was 1996, and it was MJ's first season back in the league after retiring and having a short stint in baseball. After a stellar pre-season in other iterations of the Air Jordan 11, MJ went into the Playoffs wearing the black and red pair. Michael Jordan silenced everyone who doubted his ability to return to the game of basketball by winning his fourth NBA Championship, being named MVP, and ending the season with a 72-10 record.

Designed by legendary sneaker designer Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 11 features a combination of patent leather, ballistic nylon mesh, and leather on the upper, carbon fiber shank plates on the medial sides, and an eye-catching translucent red outsole.
While the Air Jordan 11 "Black/Red" has seen several releases over the years (in 2001, 2008, and 2012) with slight variations, the 2019 version is the first time it returns in true-to-original form. Everything from the shape and height of the shoe to the positioning of the Jumpman logos and the original black and orange Nike box matches the original release from 1996.
The Air Jordan 11 "Black/Red" releases on December 14 at 10 a.m. EST in full family sizing (note that the "men's" sizing will include smaller pairs that equate to women's sizing.). There are rumored to be well over a million pairs available, but you'll want to shop quickly as demand is high. Keep reading for a full list of retailers you can buy them from.
