Monica Lewinsky says former President Bill Clinton should "want to apologize" to her for their infamous affair, but says she doesn't need one.
Lewinsky made the comment on NBC's "TODAY" show on Tuesday ahead of the release of "Impeachment: American Crime Story," an FX limited series about the sex sandal.
"There was a long period, before my life changed in the last six or seven years, where I felt a lot in terms of there not being this resolution. I'm very grateful that I don't have that feeling anymore. I don't need it,' Lewinsky, who is a producer on the show, said. "He should want to apologize in the same way I want to apologize any chance I get to people my actions have hurt."
Lewinsky was thrust into the spotlight in 1998, when she became a central figure of Clinton's impeachment hearing after it was revealed the then-20-something had an affair with the president when she worked at the White House.
She told the "TODAY" that she is "nervous" for "Impeachment" viewers to see "some of the worst moments" of her life.
"I do not recommend watching your early 20s be dramatized on TV, especially in this instance where the truth really was stranger than fiction," she said.
When asked if she wanted Clinton to watch the show, she said: "I don't even know how to really answer that."
