Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina has referred to former President Donald Trump as a liar but also has called him a "fun" guy to be around.

Graham, in an exchange with journalists Susan Glasser and Peter Baker, called him a "lying motherfucker," according to an upcoming book by Glasser and Peter, which was obtained in advance of its release by The Independent. In the same exchange, Graham said he's a "lot of fun to hang out with," per the book.

Glasser and Baker's book is slated to come out later this month.

This isn't the first time a Trump ally has characterized the former president as a liar.

Steve Bannon, Trump's former White House strategist, for example, said he'd often lie to get his way, as Insider's Joshua Zitser reported.

Trump "would say anything, he would lie about anything," Bannon said, adding that he lies "to win whatever exchange he [is] having at the moment."

And even recently, critics continue questioning Trump's honesty.

Legal analysts said it's likely that Trump authorized a false statement his attorneys made to the Justice Department in relation to the Mar-a-Lago probe, Insider's Tom Porter reported.

The attorney told the DOJ that he "was not advised there were any records in any private office space or other locations in Mar-a-Lago." Christina Bobb, one of Trump's lawyers, signed a statement saying all government material had been returned to the White House after Trump left office, but that statement turned out to be false since the FBI uncovered boxes of White House documents, some of which were labeled confidential.

"I think it's more likely than not that he lied to them knowing that they were going to transmit those lies to the government," David Laufman, former chief of the DOJ's Counterintelligence Section, said of Trump on MSNBC.

"There's more of an implication in this newly released information that the former president did play a role in the provision of information about documents to whoever the lawyer who certified this information to the Justice Department," former US attorney Joyce Vance said in an interview on MSNBC.
