Leaked video shows former Fox News host Tucker Carlson quoting an infamous behind-the-scenes outburst by Bill O'Reilly, another former host for the network who held Carlson's old time slot and was also pushed out.

The video, obtained by the left-leaning nonprofit Media Matters, shows Carlson on the set of "Tucker Carlson Today," his show that streamed online at Fox Nation. It's unclear when the video was taken. Carlson, who appears to be responding to something said to him off-screen, laughs and shouts, "Fuck it, we'll do it live!"

The phrase became well known in 2008 when an outtake from O'Reilly's time at "Inside Edition" in the early 1990s surfaced online and went viral. The clip showed O'Reilly having a problem with the lines on the teleprompter before starting to shout and swear.

"We'll do it live! Fuck it! Do it live!" O'Reilly shouts, before eventually switching back into news mode and calmly delivering the closing line. After the show appears to end, he then proceeds to throw a pen and rip off his jacket.

When the clip went viral in 2008, O'Reilly was the host of "The O'Reilly Factor" on Fox News, one of the top-rated cable news shows at the time. O'Reilly hosted the show from the launch of the network in 1996 until 2017, when he was fired after The New York Times reported that Fox News had paid millions to settle sexual harassment lawsuits over his behavior.

Carlson was quickly tapped to replace O'Reilly, stepping in to fill his primetime slot with "Tucker Carlson Tonight," which would also go on to become a top-rated cable news show. But like O'Reilly six years earlier, Carlson was also pushed out of the network last week.

It's unclear exactly why Carlson was fired, but the move came shortly after Fox News agreed to pay $787.5 million to Dominion Voting Systems to settle a defamation lawsuit over false claims that were aired on the network.

The firing also came one month after Fox News and Carlson were sued by a former booker for his show, Abby Grossberg, who accused him of creating "a work environment that subjugates women based on vile sexist stereotypes." Fox has denied her allegations.

On Tuesday, The New York Times published a text message sent by Carlson that the outlet said caused great concern among Fox News executives who learned about it on the eve of the Dominion trial. In the text, sent by Carlson to one of his producers the day after the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, Carlson described a video he had seen of several "Trump guys" jumping an "Antifa kid."

"Jumping a guy like that is dishonorable obviously. It's not how white men fight," the text said, according to the Times. "Yet suddenly I found myself rooting for the mob against the man, hoping they'd hit him harder, kill him. I really wanted them to hurt the kid. I could taste it."

"Then somewhere deep in my brain, an alarm went off: this isn't good for me. I'm becoming something I don't want to be," the text continued.
