Kathleen Buhle says ex-husband Hunter Biden always knew 'the benefit and advantage' of being from a 'prominent family'
- Kathleen Buhle opened up about her 24-year marriage with Hunter Biden in an interview with ABC News.
- Buhle told ABC News that Biden "always acknowledged the benefit and advantage" of being a Biden.
Kathleen Buhle said her ex-husband Hunter Biden always understood the edge he had from being part of a "prominent family."
In an interview with ABC News' Amy Robach that aired on Tuesday, Buhle spoke about her 24-year marriage with Hunter Biden — the eldest surviving son of President Joe Biden — as well as the couple's finances and Hunter Biden's struggle with addiction.
In part of the interview, Robach told Buhle about a 2019 interview with Hunter Biden where she asked him if he would have been invited to be on the board of a Ukrainian natural gas firm — which he did from 2014 to 2019 — if his last name wasn't Biden.
At the time, Hunter Biden told Robach that he "probably" would not have been asked to be on the board and said he didn't think many things would happen in his life if it weren't for his last name.
"Trying to get someone to parse out what parts of their life came from their parents is, in my mind, not a healthy exercise," Buhle told Robach. "I think he has always acknowledged the benefit and advantage of coming from a prominent family."
She continued: "I saw someone who loved his father, respected his parents, and was proud to be their son."
Buhle, who spoke about her new memoir, "If We Break: A Memoir of Marriage, Addiction and Healing" as part of the ABC News interview, told Robach that said if she was called to testify against her ex-husband, who is under federal investigation over foreign business dealings, she wouldn't have anything to say.
"I have buried my head in the sand," she told Robach. "I really hope that's a lesson that women hear. Understand your finances, take responsibility for them."
Buhle and Hunter Biden were married for 24 years before they divorced five years ago.
