Shaheen, first elected in 2008, will now serve a third term in the US Senate. She previously served as New Hamshire's governor. In the Senate, she serves on the powerful Committee on Appropriations, Committee on Agriculture, and the Committee on Foreign Relations.
Messner a military veteran, lawyer, and businessman won the GOP nomination over retired US Army General and veterans' health advocate Don Bolduc in September. He was endorsed by President Donald Trump, who also lost New Hampshire, Decision Desk HQ projected.
