Israeli authorities released videos of a captured Hamas militant, who says the group promised a $10,000 reward and an apartment to militants who successfully brought Israeli hostages back to Gaza, according to The Jerusalem Post.

The footage, shared by Israel's security agency Shin Bet and the country's police force, features what it says are several detained Hamas militants being interrogated about the events of October 7.

On that day, Hamas carried out a series of surprise terror attacks in Israel, which Israeli sources say led to some 1,400 deaths.

In the video, an unnamed Hamas militant stated that he was given orders to "kidnap as many as possible" during the terror attacks.

He says in the video that Hamas operatives were incentivized with a "stipend" for every Israeli hostage they brought into Gaza.

The reward of property and a lump-sum payment for each person captured was mentioned by a company commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the man says in the interrogation video.

"That's how it works in the Al-Qassam Brigades," he added.

The Al-Qassam Brigades is the military wing of Hamas. According to the European Union — which has designated Hamas as a terrorist organization — it is the largest and best military group operating in Gaza.

After the events of October 7, more than 200 hostages were believed to be trapped in Gaza, Reuters reported, with some subsequently being released, including two older hostages freed on Monday.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has urged Hamas to release hostages immediately. President Joe Biden said the US would support a ceasefire deal once the hostages' releases are secured.

Human rights groups have called for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza as retaliatory air strikes have leveled much of the area. It is expected that Israel may soon begin a ground offensive into Gaza.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, more than 5,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 7.
