The race for the White House has begun, and the world awaits as the US heads for its 59th presidential election between Democratic nominee Joe Biden and interim president Donald Trump. This will be one of the most bitterly fought American polls, and while the results are expected to come in by November 3rd evening (EST), reports suggest that the wait may get longer. With the massive surge in in-mail voting, the counting process may take time. But as you wait to hear the announcement of the next president of the United States, here are some of the most interesting facts about the 2020 presidential elections.
Whether Donald Trump or Joe Biden wins, America will see its oldest head of state ever
Regardless of who wins the elections, the United States will see its oldest president ever. By inauguration day (January 20), Biden will be 78, while Trump is 74.
If Trump loses, he will be the first President in decades to not get a second term

The US constitution doesn’t allow for one president to hold office for more than two terms. In September, Trump had joked that he would negotiate a third term in office because he’s entitled to it.
This is the most expensive election ever
The US 2020 elections are the most expensive one in history costing over $14 billion – twice as costly as the last election cycle. And not just, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has raised over a billion dollars from donors – becoming the first candidate in history to do so.
First polls during a pandemic
The 2020 elections will be the first time nation-wide voting will be held during a pandemic. Although the 1918 midterm elections saw a massive drop in voting due to the Spanish flu and World War I, this will be the first time America will be going to the polls while a pandemic continues to ravage the country.
The US has seen 9,568,275 coronavirus cases with 237,009 dead. However, even with the pandemic, over 100 million Americans had already voted during the early voting.
