Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo: 'I was going to kill everybody and myself' after firing

Chris Cuomo, the former CNN anchor who was ousted from the outlet in 2021, still has a lot to say about his firing.
On an episode of Anthony Scaramucci's podcast, Open Book, on Wednesday, Cuomo admitted that he was so upset after he was cut that he felt like he "was going to kill everybody including myself."
Cuomo was fired from CNN in 2021 amid revelations that he helped his brother — former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo — deal with public sexual misconduct accusations that ultimately led to the governor's resignation.
Cuomo, 52, who is of Italian heritage, added "things can consume you. Italians are so passionate."
Scaramucci, also Italian, was publicly fired by then-President Trump after 10 days as communications director at the White House.
But Cuomo also noted that he's coming to an acceptance of the situation, knowing that his days of being "number one" as a primetime anchor at a major network are over.
"I'll never be that again. That was taken from me, I believe wrongly. I'll litigate that. I'm not going to bitch about it in the press," he said.
This isn't the first time he's spoken candidly about his dismissal. In January, Cuomo said on the "No BS News Hour" podcast that he was "emotionally and psychologically beat up" after the incident.
In October, Cuomo debuted a new primetime show on the cable network NewsNation, where he's interviewed controversial figures like Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.
While he may not have the viewership he had at CNN, Cuomo told Scaramucci that he's "trying to have a broader aperture on what matters."
Back at CNN, he was much more focused on "playing the game."
"I'm trying to remember what I've been through every day, and not forgetting and falling back into what works and what will rate more and what will get me higher on the media list and what will get more people talking about me," he said.
Neither Cuomo nor NewsNation responded immediately to Insider's request for a comment.
