Angus Cloud, a breakout star on HBO's teen drama "Euphoria" is dead at 25, according to his representatives.

In a statement to Insider, Cloud's family said: "It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways."

"Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend," the family said. "Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence."

Cloud rose to pop culture icon status in his role as a drug dealer with a heart of gold, Fezco, on "Euphoria," which features several young-adult stars, including Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney.

"We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone," Cloud's family said. "We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss."

The series, which ended its second season in February 2022, shared the following statement on Twitter: "We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time."

According to a 2019 profile in GQ, Cloud was discovered by a casting rep while walking down a New York City street, which led to an audition for "Euphoria."

"I was confused and I didn't want to give her my phone number," Cloud said at the time. "I thought it was a scam."

Around the age of 15, the actor received a prominent curved scar on his head in 2013 after falling into a construction and breaking his skull.

Cloud told Variety he "would have died" if he wasn't taken to a children's hospital after climbing out hours later. The actor spent five days in the ICU, feeling "blessed to just have minor brain damage."

The scar, visible on the left side of the actor's head, was written into the HBO series as part of his character's backstory. On the show's second season premiere, Fez is accidentally hit with a crowbar.

The actor told Insider's Olivia Singh he was "stoked" to get an origin story.

"The opening scene is just a work of art in itself," Cloud said. "But just how they added in how I got my scar, they made up a whole reason in my backstory of how I got this scar and I was like 'Damn, that's sick.' It's a real scar."

On the HBO series, Fezco looked after his grandmother while acting as a supportive older brother to Rue (Zendaya) as she continued to struggle with addiction. Fezco was also pursuing a relationship with Lexi, Maude Apatow's character.

The second season of "Euphoria" ended with with a SWAT team raiding Fez's apartment and the fan-favorite shot in the stomach.

His final scene shows Fez being carried out of his home and taken into custody. It's unclear how the show may handle his character moving forward.

The show's third season was recently pushed back to a 2025 release due to the ongoing writer's strike.
