Local businesses in Colorado can call local law enforcement to report those who refuse to wear masks for trespassing, Colorado Governor Jared Polis said in an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

On Thursday, the Democratic Governor announced a mask mandate for the state of Colorado. The executive order specifies that all individuals over the age of 10 "must wear a face covering over their nose and mouth when entering or moving within any Public Indoor Space." Additionally, the mandate notes that "an individual who endangers the health of others by knowingly entering or remaining in a Public Indoor Space" may "be subject to civil or criminal penalties."

"Look, in Colorado, there's no shirt, no shoes, no mask, no service," said Polis during a news conference where he announced the new mandate, the Denver Post reported. He also added that wearing masks should not be "political statements," according to the newspaper.

Also in Sunday's interview on NBC, the Colorado Governor said that "the national testing scene is a complete disgrace" and that the turnaround time for testing is "almost useless from an epidemiological or even diagnostic perspective."

According to Johns Hopkins University data on testing efforts by state, Colorado tested 7,451 and confirmed 690 cases of coronavirus per 100,000 people.

Colorado's new statewide mask mandate comes as workers around the country have shared experiences of harassment from asking customers to wear masks. 44% of McDonald's workers said they had been verbally of physically assaulted from approaching customers who were reluctant to wear masks, according to a new Service Employees International Union survey.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Fox News broadcasted on Sunday, President Trump said that he will not issue a national mandate to wear masks, saying he wants "people to have a certain freedom."
