An LA Taco Bell drive-thru worker was shot and killed by a customer who tried to pay with a fake $20 bill, family says

An employee at a Taco Bell drive-thru in Los Angeles was shot dead by a customer who tried to pay with a fake $20 bill during his Saturday night shift, his family told ABC 7.
The shooting happened at a drive-thru on Avalon Boulevard, southern Los Angeles, at 11 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department told ABC 7 on Sunday.
Family members identified the employee as Alejandro Garcia, 41, ABC 7 reported. Garcia had been working night shifts at the fast-food chain once a week to make extra money, the outlet reported.
Garcia was working alongside his son when an argument erupted with two customers in a car, his family told ABC 7. Garcia's son had refused to accept what appeared to be a counterfeit $20 bill, the family told the outlet.
"I guess they got upset and they just started shooting," Garcia's cousin, Nancy Garcia del Sol, told ABC 7 on Sunday. "My nephew was close by so he closed the window but the shots ... they went in. [Garcia] got shot in the heart, and that's what killed him, and he died there ... in front of his son's presence."
Two male suspects, estimated to be between 20 and 25 years old, are being sought in connection with the shooting, ABC 7 reported. It was not clear if one or both of them fired a weapon.
Taco Bell and the LAPD did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
Taco Bell told ABC 7: "We are shocked and saddened to hear that this happened ... We understand the owner and operator of this location is working with the local authorities in their investigation and has reached out directly to the affected family to offer support."
Garcia leaves behind a wife and three children, ABC 7 reported. As of Monday, a GoFundMe set up after his death has raised more than $20,500.
