Trevor George was taken into custody on Friday morning by the Weld County Sheriff's office in Colorado. The 32-year-old man is the main suspect in the strangulation and shooting of a teenage babysitter in Windsor, which police responded to early Friday morning.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was reportedly babysitting a young girl in a house in Windsor when she attempted to stop the suspect from stealing the family's truck. The child's mother reportedly discovered the babysitter dead in the family's driveway and allegedly found the suspect attacking her daughter in the house.

According to local news, the child and her mother hid in the house's crawl space before Weld County Sheriff's deputies and Windsor police responded to the scene. Later Friday morning, police located George traveling south on Interstate 25 in a stolen Dodge Challenger Hellcat after a BOLO (be on the look out) alert was issued for that vehicle.

According to release from the Weld County Sheriff's office posted on Twitter, George will soon be booked into the Weld County Jail on suspicion of one count each of first-degree murder, first-degree murder after deliberation, attempted first-degree murder, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and first-degree assault, among other counts.

"No other suspects are being sought and there is no ongoing threat to public safety," the Weld County Sheriff's office said in a release.
