An anti-vaccine rally in downtown Los Angeles, California, turned violent on Saturday when a man was stabbed and at least two other people were attacked, according to reports.

As KABC-TV reported, anti-vaxxers protesting against "medical tyranny" and counter-protesters gathered Saturday afternoon outside of City Hall and Los Angeles Police Department Headquarters.

The protest was held to oppose COVID-19 vaccine mandates, which have not been implemented statewide in California, although some cities have done so or are considering it. Many attendees brought signs and flags advocating for the recall of California Gov. Gavin Newsom and falsely claiming that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump.

As brawls erupted, one man was stabbed, according to The Los Angeles Times. This incident marks the third stabbing at public protests in Los Angeles in the last six weeks, two of which occurred at an anti-transgender protest on July 3 outside of Wi Spa.

The man who was stabbed at the anti-vaxx rally was released from the hospital, police told the LA Times on Sunday. The Los Angeles Police Department did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment but said on Saturday evening that no arrests had been made and an investigation was ongoing.

According to videos and photos posted online, some rally attendees have been identified as alleged members of the Proud Boys, which is labeled as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Frank Stoltze, a reporter for KPCC, filed a police report after he said he was physically and verbally assaulted by anti-mask demonstrators while trying to conduct an interview. In a tweet, Stoltze said he was "shoved" and "kicked" at the rally.

A video posted by Status Coup News showed activist Tina-Desiree Berg, who describes herself as "antifa paparazzi," being attacked at the scene. Video posted by Berg shows a fight breaking out with protesters wearing American flags and pro-Trump clothing who are yelling "F--- Antifa" and "unmask them all."

Local officials, including City Council President Nury Martinez, denounced the events.

"These aren't 'patriots'. Not wearing a mask and being anti-vax isn't patriotism - it's stupidity. We have to be able to have differences of opinions without resorting to violence," she said, according to The Times.
