A man drove his car into a crowd of protesters in Seattle and shot someone during a demonstration on Sunday evening.

The Seattle Police Department said on Twitter that it took a suspect into custody. The city's fire department said in a tweet that it transported a 27-year-old man to a hospital and that he was in stable condition.

Videos posted on Twitter showed the man leaving his car, brandishing a gun, and running into a crowd of protesters. (Warning: Graphic video.)

A journalist named Alex Garland posted a video of a man who said he was attempting to disarm the shooter when he was shot.

"My whole thing was to protect those people," he told Garland as medics held his wounded arm.

Seattle's police department and fire department did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for additional comment.
