A German tourist who had gone missing in a Zimbabwean safari park teeming with predators was found alive three days after his disappearance.

Andreas Hoberg went missing in Matusadona National Park on Saturday, said Tinashe Farawo, spokesperson for Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, in a post on X.

Hober's last known destination was a park shop, where he stopped to buy a drink before going on a game drive to see the animals in the afternoon, according to the Independent.

By Saturday evening, the car rental company he had used for the safari was unable to trace his whereabouts using the GPS tracking system, the Independent reported.

Phone signal is extremely poor in the park, which would have also made it challenging to contact Hoberg, according to the local media outlet ZimLive.com.

A search operation to find the German tourist saw a rescue team and other tourists scouring the park on Monday, Farawo said in the X post.

He told the Independent that a helicopter, several vehicles, and sniffer dogs were also used in the search.

On Tuesday, Hoberg was found "alive and well", Farawo said on X.

"We were gravely worried," he added, per the Independent. "We are happy he is well. He says his car developed a mechanical fault. It's a white car, so we were hopeful we would find it."

According to the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, Matusadona National Park contains four of the "big five" animals people seek to spot on a safari — elephants, lions, buffalo, and leopards.

It has "all the dangerous animals you can expect in the bush," Farawo told ZimLive.com.

The authority's website warns tourists visiting the safari park to be particularly cautious around certain animals, particularly lions, elephants, and buffalo with their calves.

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
