Former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner on Friday expressed his frustration that Donald Trump has not yet been hit with an indictment.

After listing off a series of investigations launched concerning Trump, MSNBC host Joy Reid asked Kirschner about Trump's former chief strategist Steve Bannon who earlier this week was arrested on money laundering and conspiracy charges.

"This might sound surprising coming from a former career prosecutor, sometimes I want to scream, 'Enough with the new investigations,'" Kirschner said during an MSNBC interview. "I mean, yes, we have to investigate all of the crimes of Donald Trump, but this new investigation ... is that going to distract us from the investigation into his theft of classified documents?

"Which seems to have distracted us from his launching an armed insurrection against the Capitol, which seems to have distracted us from his election fraud in Georgia," Kirschner continued.

Kirschner continued listing off more scandals and controversies with Trump at the center.

"And all of that, Joy, certainly distracted us from his bribery and extortion of [Ukrainian] President [Volodymyr] Zelenskyy, his 10 counts of obstruction of justice as documented in the Trump-Russia report, his campaign finance crimes with Michael Cohen at the beginning of it all that he used to steal the presidency," Kirschner said. "At some point, Joy, can we tell the Department of Justice to just finish what you started? Just return one indictment against somebody who has been criming in the harsh light of day."

"So is there frustration that Donald Trump has not had one minute of accountability? Yes, there is," he said.

The latest legal battle that emerged with Trump at the center is with the Department of Justice over the FBI's search into his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.

Last month, the FBI recovered several boxes containing classified records that Trump took with him from the White House once he left office, according to the court records made public.

The search unearthed more than two dozen boxes containing "11,000 documents and 1,800 other items from the office and storage room," according to court filings. Some of the boxes were distinctly marked as "top secret," Insider's Sonam Sheth reported.

Some of those materials include private and potentially sensitive documents like medical, tax, and accounting records, the court said. Under the Presidential Records Act, presidential records must be turned over to the National Archives and Records Administration upon leaving office.

The Justice Department is now investigating whether Trump violated any laws pertaining to the handling of government documents. A legal analyst has previously said he could receive a 10-year prison sentence if he's convicted of violating the Espionage Act, a law that dates back to World War I that essentially bars anyone from sharing or disseminating information that could potentially harm or disadvantage the US.
