  • A 121-pound St. Bernard named Daisy was rescued from the summit of Scafell Pike in Lake District National Park in Cumbria, England, on Friday.
  • Scafell Pike is England's highest mountain, at 3,208 feet above sea level.
  • The Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team said in a Facebook post that Daisy had collapsed on the mountain while descending Scafell Pike with her owners.
  • Sixteen members of the rescue team were deployed to the mountain after Cumbria Police received a call from Daisy's owners.
  • The rescue team said members "carefully" introduced themselves to Daisy, who was displaying pain in her legs.
  • They were able to lift her onto a stretcher and carry her the rest of the way down the mountain — the entire rescue took four hours and 50 minutes to complete.
  • The rescue team said they treated Daisy's rescue like they would "a normal adult evacuation," and were supported by West Lakeland Veterinary Group and Galemire Veterinary Hospital.
  • They said Daisy, who was adopted by her owners just a few months ago, was back to her "high spirits" one day after the rescue.
  • "She apparently feels a bit guilty and slightly embarrassed about letting down the image of her cousins bouncing across the Alpine snows with barrels of brandy around their necks," the rescue team said.
